Welcome to Cabaret
By Lawrence Hillis
SALEM – The Fort Salem Theater has been
proud to host yet another cabaret this weekend. The
theater community was honored to be part of
the performance of such a distinguished ingénue
as soon to be married Kerri Lynn Jennings. Her
imposing voice and vibrant presence pull the
viewer into her world of intrigue and gypsy
magic while her stories of real love grip the
heart. The humor of Broadway auditions,
the pull of ambition, and the strength of a
woman in transition made this a night to remember,
while the new cabaret room comes alive with
stars and emotion evoking lighting. Great
songs from Jason Robert Brown, Oklahoma,
and Thoroughly Modern Millie enchant listeners and
tell a real story through the sounds of music,
the sounds of theater; welcome to the Fort
Salem Cabaret.
Though Ms. Jennings’ show
has run its course, the Theater at Fort Salem
will be presenting The
Hills of Hebron are Alive (yes with music)
as renowned pianist Geoffrey Gee, folk rock
guitarist Rich Wirsing, and the theater’s
very own Lynne Kerr come together in a powerful
gathering of talent.
The
tickets for this show are limited so it’s
best to call the theater early, or perhaps
Mr. Jay Kerr could be persuaded to offer
lawn seating! |
