Psychoneedles Pleases Crowd at Fort Salem
By Lawrence Hillis
SALEM – “We need reservations
to see Psychoneedles!?” This was
the cry that resounded throughout Salem as
the triumphant Cabaret debut of Psychoneedles
commandeered the stage at the Fort Salem Cabaret
this past weekend.
Those unfortunate souls expecting lawn seating
were disappointed and turned away as Psychoneedles,
quite fit for SPAC or the Pepsi Arena, deigned
to perform for a series of small audiences.
Though
first mention of the name Psychoneedles may
strike you as terrifying and reminiscent of
a punk rock lyric, attendees were pleasantly
surprised by the group’s mellow and matured
rock tone. Based out of a country/folk
style (not country western we are told) which
predates the Great American Songbook, Psychoneedles’ sound
was full and driven and its power resounded
throughout the cabaret room.
The members themselves
are quite versed in life and music, from a
Patti Smith veteran to
a former British rocker and even an Emmy award
winning filmmaker…lending credence to
their words, and power to their raw emotions.
Psychoneedles’ sound is mandatory on
a “must hear before death” list
and others have already discovered this, especially
women named Phoebe apparently, as the internet
continues to spread their great skill ever
outward.
Though their time at the Cabaret has
come and gone, Psychoneedles’ passing
brings ever more honor and reputation to the
Fort Salem Cabaret, and its owners, Jay and
Lynne Kerr. With the couples’ past
experience and recent successes, it brings
into ever clearer reality the flourishing life
of the cabaret and makes it ever more apparent
that those who have not attended a show and
experienced the music and the mouth watering
refreshments are missing out quite badly.
As
such, this weekend “Tap into Your
Heart” will be appearing at the Cabaret
and there is still room for you.
Containing
the tapping flicks and magical tricks of an
experienced showman, this one weekend venue
is not to be missed, so make it your job to
be there! |
