The Program:
On stage, Fort Salem Theater specializes in music and musical theater. In workshop, we pride ourselves in providing the best theater training of any and all kinds available in the area, because our instructors are working professionals in show business who are also experienced teachers, who teach because they love seeing students come alive with self-expression.
The Summer Workshops will provide intensive training in all aspects of musical theater, following the guidelines of our Mission Statement: “The educational wing of Fort Salem strives to support the student in his/her strengths, analyze and address technical deficits, and provide training that will result in a series of general skills that can serve him/her in future academic, community, or professional theatrical experiences.”
Every morning, we’ll have classes in dancing, singing, and acting. Occasional guest teachers will offer their own unique insights into performing. On the final night of the camps, both workshops will come together in a production created to showcase the strengths of each student in the program.

The Staff:
This year's staff is headed by a teacher with national credits and local extensive local teaching experience. Rosie Spring returns to Fort Salem after performing in the Cabaret in Fall, 2009, and on the Mainstage the previous spring in Tango Fusion Dance Company’s concert, Timeless. With a strong background in musical theater, she has been seen on national tours of 42nd St and A Christmas Carol. Her regional credits include George M! at Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut and Gypsy (Louise,) The Sound of Music (Liesl,) and Footloose at Stages St. Louis. This past Christmas, she danced the title role in the New York State Theatre Institute production of Sleeping Beauty. An NYU graduate, Rosie teaches dance and private voice at Ginger Benack School of Dance, choreographs for NYSTI and Saratoga Children’s Theatre, and encourages young playwrights with the Adirondack Theatre Company.
Rosie is the mother of a one year old daughter, Dorothy, and wife of Rob Spring, a talented performer in his own right and proprietor of Rob Spring Photography in Saratoga Springs.
